Kindergarteners have just completed their clay snowflake ornaments. Our goal was to learn ways to create texture and surface design on a clay slab. |

First, we pinched a round slab, then we pressed snowflakes into the surface. Here are some buttons, ornaments, and stickers (adhered to bottle caps) that we used to create our textures. |

A thin application of glaze (2 coats) creates a more translucent look... |

...and a thicker application becomes more opaque. This is about 3 coats. |
