Making a few changes

I am one of those people that is constantly rethinking arrangements and design. I am almost finished redecorating my 11 year old son's room (he wanted his bedroom to look like Jack White lives there) and am plotting my art room space for next year. I figure that after 2 years of blogging, it's also time to try out some new looks for my blog, so please excuse what may look like disarray over the summer!

I will also be teaching my 15 year old daughter how to drive (yikes), and when I have a spare moment I want to experiment with a new look on my blog. So, fellow bloggers, I would love to read about some of your favorite blogging tricks and tips regarding design. I'd love to include some animations or other stylish things, so please comment with some of your favorite applications. No advice is too basic for me - although I am pretty confident about the content of my posts, I am not too experienced as a blog designer!

Thanks so much to all the readers this year, I really appreciate all the support. Thanks again to The Art of Education for upping my readership by leaps and bounds, and I look forward to another great year of "working" with all of you inspirational art teachers. Enjoy your summers to the fullest!

  1. I can't wait to see your new blog and good luck with the driving:) teaching. My mom was a drivers ed instructor and still hits the dashboard constantly whenever she's in the passengers seat. It's pretty hilarious! But, when she drives, PUT ON YOUR SEATBELT!!!

My husband still tells the story of the first time he drove with me. I started to pull out onto the road and asked "Which side of the road should I be on?" He thought I was from England. Yes that is the artist in me, always looking at the trees instead of paying attention. I'm thankfully an excellent driver now. . . .("I'm an excellent driver" do you know what that quote is from?)

Point being, she has got to be better then that and I still learned:)

  2. I usually read my blogs in google reader so I don't get to see all the fun banner or sidebar things. Now that I am looking at it, I love your banner:) And I love your info tabs... that is on my to do list this summer. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Lots of good driving wishes your way. I have a 15 year old too! He won't be learning until next year though. Let me know how it goes:)

  3. I love that you put a new image up on your banner! It would be cool to have a slide show of your favorite projects in the sidebar perhaps.

  4. Hey Hope-
You are welcome, by the way! You deserve every honor you get. This blog is doing great things for art education! Perhaps one of the most gratifying things is to redesign your blog. I am of the philosophy that "less is more" so the beautiful artwork photos can stand out. I also think a logo is a huge asset to your blog. I got mine from 99 Designs. http://www.theartofed.com/2011/01/16/99-fabulous-designs/
    Good Luck!
