Will you be our Valentines, ATC style?

A little early, I know, but I'm a planner. We really enjoyed our international ATC swap last year, and I thought that we might plan our swap this year around Valentine's Day - there are SO many ways to be inspired for a Valentine's day theme, and who doesn't love getting a Valentine in the mail?
If you would like to participate in a swap with my 4th and 5th graders next year, let me know with a comment or an email to knighth@fultonschools.org.

There will be more specifics in the fall, but here's what I'm hoping for:

  • I need about 10 different participating teachers who can submit 25 or 50 cards from your school - trying to keep it in sets of 25 this year, I went a little nuts last year organizing random numbers :P
  •  We would like to trade with a variety of grade levels.
  • We are hoping to trade with as many different states and countries as possible - would love to trade again with last year's friends!
  • Cards need to be complete and in the mail by the end of January to ensure all students get one on Valentine's Day.
  • If you haven't done a trade before, the cards are handmade on 2.5 x 3.5" paper, and are labeled on the back with student name, school name, age/grade, city, state, country, date and title of art.
Hope to hear from you!

a few ATC's I made for friends last year... so fun!

  1. I teach K-5 at 3 schools. Would it be possible to send ATC's for 4th and 5th graders from 2 of my schools? There are more than 25 kids per class, but I could send cards from only two groups if that would work best for you. I have always wanted to do something like this and think my kids would love it! Let me know!

    1. Hi Pat,

I'm a classroom teacher (grade 4/5 combined) from Winnipeg, Canada. My kids got into ATC swapping last year and it was a huge hit! They insisted that I swap again this year with my new class. If you are interested in arranging a swap for another month this year, let me know. I'm already committed to swapping with Hope's class in January and another teacher in October. I'm trying to arrange one swap per month throughout the entire year. Email me at smarshall@retsd.mb.ca if you're interested.

  2. Hey Pat, we will make it work. Once school gets rolling along, we'll iron out all the details! Maybe we'll change the number to 30 or something, we'll see once we know how many folks want to join in.

  5. Hello Hope. We'll gladly swap ATCs with you again this coming year. We had a great year of swapping worldwide. I bet my new kids in the fall will be eager to swap. It can be at Valentine's or any other time of year for us.

  8. Great! You don't have to do a literal valentine, you could do a red monochromatic painting, a Jim Dine style heart, some kind of typography about Luv, you know. We'll talk more this fall.

  9. I would love to do this with my students! The only problem is choosing which class- I have about 600 kiddos! Send me an email at jacksona@bedfordk12tn.net if you still need participants! Oh, and I love your blog!

  10. Not sure what an ATC swap is, but would love to participate! I have about 20 6-8th graders. Art was removed from our middle school for the past 5 years. We have been "struggling" to bring it back! Thanks for a great idea.
