4th graders are learning about visual texture |
we took our inspiration from autumn leaves |
texture boards and crayons create a colorful abstract texture on the body of the leaf |
watercolors provide a softer visual texture for contrast |
we learned the wet-on-wet technique for bleeding edges |
they look beautiful drying in the autumn sun |
we also completed our unit on Pop Art |
we learned about Andy Warhol... |
...Roy Lichtenstein... |
... and also the "food art" repeats of Wayne Thiebaud |
We discussed our favorite Pop Artists and wrote about our choices |
Beautiful fall leaves.
ReplyDeleteYour students did a wonderful job capturing and drawing the details.
I love the colors and textures.
The leaves are beautiful! I actually like the background of the leaves even better than the leaves themselves!
ReplyDeleteDid you have the students draw the leaves first and then cut them out and glue them onto the watercolor background? or did you have them draw the leaves first and then paint in the background?
ReplyDeleteBecky, we drew then painted around the leaves... no cutting involved.
ReplyDeleteThe wet on wet technique looks great against the leaves!!
