Haring figures in tints and shades

Fourth graders expanded their figure studies from gesture drawing into the symbolic figures from Keith Haring's art. Haring's NYC subway art often showed faceless figures that had no gender, age, or race.  We painted the figures with tints and shades of a selected hue.  After collaging them onto the backgrounds, we added action lines to suggest motion or sound.

  1. This is a great project to teach students about shades. Your students did a wonderful job.
I love the movement of the figures.
    They are all my favorites.
