First graders tried out marker prints to create colorful, textural backgrounds for our Evergreens in the Forest artwork. After a lesson on the nature of evergreens, we drew them with oil pastel and then used a sheet of transparent plastic and Crayola markers for a layer of color, which printed on our papers when spritzed with water and rubbed together. Thanks to all the many art teachers who shared their tips online for marker printing! It was a fun and quick technique with great results.
