Klee's Castles, 2nd grade
Geometric shapes and warm or cool color schemes were our focus points for this lesson, based on Paul Klee's "Castle and Sun." We used pages from an old storybook for our backgrounds.
Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful art ideas...they are invaluable to me as a non-art specialist who loves doing art, but doesn't have the experience to draw on;)
I love the idea of having the kids draw on book pages! Your students did a great job with them! I like the borders too! I am also doing Klee with my 2nds! We are just finishing up this week.... We talked about the difference between abstract and realism and how some abstract pieces represent realistic things. Then we drew ours with simple shapes, oil pastel and watercolor.

ReplyDeleteThese are perfection. The marker (which I usually shy away from for assignments) looks awesome on the book pages!!
ReplyDeleteHope, please let me know if you have any pointers for this lesson. I'm trying this out with my 3rd graders for our art show!
